Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2008, Hanban and the Shandong Provincial Government donated a concrete statue of Confucius to the University of Adelaide. The dimensions of the statue are 220x95x77cm. The statue model, "Confucius standard," was first unveiled at the first Shandong (International) Cultural Industry Expo in 2006. The organizing committee of the Cultural Expo and the China Confucius Foundation jointly launched the Confucius standard statue to promote Chinese culture. Since then, the "Confucius standard" statue has been donated to universities around the world. The statue stands in the Wills Courtyard on the grounds of the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace campus. The financial value of the statue is unknown. Hanban's contribution to this grant is represented in Record ID#97686.
