On March 21, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Japan and the Dalian City, Liaoning Province Government donated disinfectants, medical masks, medical protective clothing, and gloves to the Wakayama Prefectural Government for COVID-19 prevention. 6360 slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water sprays were donated by the embassy, and 20,000 medical masks, 10,000 N95 masks, 4,000 equivalent masks, 2,500 sets of protective clothing, and 20,000 medical gloves were donated by Dalian. The donated materials were distributed to medical institutions, nursing homes, and schools. On March 21, 2020, the donated materials were presented in a ceremony at the Wakayama Prefectural Office. The event was attended by Toshihiro Nikai, the chief of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party; Yoshinobu Nisaka, the governor of Wakayama Prefecture; Kong Hoon You, the Chinese Ambassador to Japan; and He Zhenliang, the Consul General of China in Osaka.
