Description
Following a visit to Uganda by Wen Jiabao in 2006, the Chinese Government pledged to provide in grant funding the construction of a government office block. Then, in 2007, the Chinese Government committed $39,968,675 in grant funding. The project involved the construction of the Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, a conference hall, auxiliary facilities and a parking lot. The project began on November 1, 2008. Construction ended in August 2010 and the project was handed over in an official ceremony on January 12, 2012. Yanjian Group was the contractor responsible for project implementation. As of April 7, 2020, the Aid Management Platform (AMP) of the Government of Uganda's Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development recorded total disbursements through this grant as amounting to $25,384,213.04 (or 64% of the original grant commitment amount).
