Project narrative

On July 27, 2011, the Chinese Government announced it would provide 90 million yuan in food aid to drought-affected countries in Africa, including 50 million yuan to Ethiopia. 50 million yuan would go to Kenya (see Record ID#73729), and 10 million yuan to Djibouti (see Record ID#59621). Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie said the humanitarian assistance would include about $7.7 million worth of food for Ethiopia. According to the UNOCHA, the Chinese Government has disbursed the 50 million yuan ($7,763,975) worth of assistance to Ethiopia.
