Description
On May 24, 2000, Andre Bumaya of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation, and Shi Guangsheng, the China's Minister of Commerce and Cooperation, signed a memorandum of understanding for a grant that would support the construction of the Nyarutarama-Kinyinya road and the UTEXRWA-Kinyinya road in Kigali. The precise funding amounts allocated for the Nyarutarama-Kinyinya and UTEXRWA-Kinyinya road construction projects are unknown, as the 20 million RMB grant commitment was also earmarked for a feasibility study for a rail line (ID#1843) and the establishment of an irrigation network (ID#17358). The UTEXRWA-Kinyinya road is a 2.6 km road runs from Kinyinya to the UTEXRWA textile factory in north Kigali. The Nyarutarama-Kinyinya road is in Kigali and it is approximately 4.5 km in length. It runs from Nyarutarama to Kinyinya. China Road and Bridge Corporation was the contractor responsible for project implementation. The handover ceremony for the completion of the UTEXRWA-Kinyinya road project took place on August 1, 2005.
