Chinese Government provides grant for Tivaouane Peul Primary School Construction Project

Project narrative

In July 2007, the Chinese Government and the Government of Senegal signed a grant agreement for a Primary School Construction Project. The proceeds from this grant agreement were earmarked for the construction of multiple primary schools in the Dakar Region. This grant commitment was recorded in the Government of Senegal’s External Financing Management Platform (la Plateforme de Gestion des Financements Extérieurs du Sénégal, or PGFE), but its monetary value of the commitment was not identified. Ultimately, the proceeds from this grant agreement were only used to support the construction of a single primary school in the village of Tivaouane Peul. The Tivaouane Peul Primary School Construction project was officially completed and handed over to the authorities on July 29, 2016. Then, on October 4, 2016, an opening ceremony was held for the school.
