Description

On 5 December, 2011, Niger's National Education Minister, Madam Ali Mariama Elhadj Ibrahim, and the Chinese Ambassador to Niger, Xia Huang, signed a 1.5 billion XOF grant agreement for the Tondigamey and Talladjé Est II School Construction Project (See: China, Niger sign agreement on school building). This project involved the construction of two, 10-classroom schools in the Nigerian capital of Niamey (See: LANCEMENT DES TRAVAUX DE CONSTRUCTION DE DEUX ECOLES PRIMAIRES : LA REPUBLIQUE POPULAIRE DE CHINE MET A LA DISPOSITION DE LA REGION DE NIAMEY 2 ECOLES PRIMAIRES DE 20 CLASSES ET 4 BUREAUX EQUIPES). It also involved the drilling of water wells at these schools. The schools are located in two suburbs of Niamey: Tondigamey and Talladjé Est II (See: LANCEMENT DES TRAVAUX DE CONSTRUCTION DE DEUX ECOLES PRIMAIRES : LA REPUBLIQUE POPULAIRE DE CHINE MET A LA DISPOSITION DE LA REGION DE NIAMEY 2 ECOLES PRIMAIRES DE 20 CLASSES ET 4 BUREAUX EQUIPES)China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) is the contractor responsible for implementation (See: China, Niger sign agreement on school building). A groundbreaking ceremony took place on 31 May, 2012; however, it is not known if or when this project was completed (See: 中国援尼日尔两所小学校项目开工典礼).The funds for this project were drawn in part from a 2011 Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) (see Umbrella Project ID#58641).
