Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

During an official visit in 2006, the Governor of Kinshasa secured a pledge from the Chinese Government for the construction of a new school to be built in Ngiri-Ngiri, Kinshasa. China Jiangsu Construction Development Company won the tender in consortium with the Chinese Engineering Company. Construction began in December 2009 and ended in November 2010. The school included six classrooms, private apartments, four offices, four toilets, a library, and a leisure hall. As of 2011, the school has about 16 teachers and 450 students, about 60% of which are girls. The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Aid Management Platform (AMP) reported a combined grant commitment amount of $2,196,997.436 for the Ngiri-Ngiri Primary School Construction Project and the Kisangani Primary Schools Construction Project (recorded in the linked Record ID#19663). The grant commitment for both these projects is recorded in the umbrella Record ID#85305. This project is completed. The French project title is Construction d'une école rurale à Kinshasa et deux à Kisangani.
