Full Description

Project narrative

In 2007, the Chinese Government pledged funds to construct a National Sports School in Olembe. The face value and terms of the loan are unknown; however, the total estimated cost of the project was 60 million euros. This was part of a larger 209 million Euro renovation of Provincial Stadiums in Cameroon by the Chinese Government (see linked Record ID#22824). The project involved the construction of a 35,000 seat capacity National Sports School over 10 thousand square metres of land with a medical rehabilitation centre for students to recover from physical activities. The project also involved the construction of an indoor gymnasium and an aquatic centre. China National Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation (CMEC) was the contractor responsible for project implementation. The project was initiated on August 6, 2004 and completed on March 11, 2009.
