Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In a decision made on June 23, 2006, Wen Jiabao announced a commitment to build three primary schools in any villages Tanzania selects; one of which was in Msoga. The total project cost was 5 million RMB and was likely entirely financed by a loan agreement captured in umbrella Record ID#1522. The other two schools are recorded in projects #14910 and #23296. Beijing Construction Engineering Group built this primary school in President Kikwete's home town of Msoga. It was intended to serve 300 students. The third school is being built on the west coast of Zanzibar. Construction on this primary school started in 2009, but the current status of this project is unknown.

Staff comments

1. The borrowing terms of the loan are unknown. For the time being, AidData assumes that MOFCOM's standard borrowing terms for interest-free loans (20-year maturity, 10-year grace period) apply.
