Description

The Chinese Government provided financing to construct a high-capacity power generator for the town of Tomegbé (see pg.90 of 'Building Bridges: China's Growing Role as Infrastructure Financier for Sub-Saharan Africa'). The generator was intended to provide electricity to the town's 25,000 inhabitants, who have lacked electricity since 1990. The handover ceremony was held on December 16, 2007; the generator went into operation the same day (see 'Grâce à la Chine, Tomégbé y voit plus clair').
