Description

In January 2008, the Chinese government granted $500,000 in humanitarian aid to Somalia through the World Health Organization (WHO) (See: 'China donates 500,000 USD humanitarian aid to Somalia'; '中国驻肯尼亚大使张明向世界卫生组织移交对索马里援助'). Zhang Ming, the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, said the financial aid will be used to purchase medication and medical equipment, which would help improving the health and sanitary condition of the homeless in Somalia (UNOCHA: Financial Tracking Service Flow ID: 54517). Fouad Mjoallid, WHO Representative in Somalia and Mohamed Ali Nur, the Somali Ambassador to Kenya, attended the signing ceremony of the aid agreement. This project is completed.
