Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On 15 December 2010, the Chinese Ambassador to Sudan signed an agreement to cancel RMB 40 million of the Government of Sudan’s outstanding debt obligations to the Chinese Government. These obligations reportedly resulted from an interest-free loan that the Sudanese Government contracted in 1995.

Staff comments

AidData has not coded this project as an umbrella project because the debt that was forgiven was contracted prior to 2000 (and therefore there is no risk of double-counting).
