Description
On 26 October, 2010, the Chinese Government announced plans to donate $10 million USD worth of medical equipment to the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Hospital in Zimbabwe as part of a three-year infrastructure package that includes a number of other unrelated projects. The plan was signed into agreement in by the Chinese Deputy Minister of Commerce, Jiang Zengweni, in July 2010 and was announced by the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Xin Shunkang. It should be noted that the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Hospital, located in Mahusekwa, was constructed in Zimbabwe using Chinese funds. This donation is a supplement to the construction of the hospital (see linked projects #20443 and #72842) and is separate from the original cost of the building. In July 2010, the Chinese Government signed an agreement for a separate donation to provide $1.5 million USD worth of medical equipment and drugs to the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Hospital, which is recorded in the linked project #21460.
Additional details
It is possible that this project is a duplicate of project #20443 because of the similar transaction amounts and intent towards the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Hospital, but this is unclear based on the one source provided for this project.
