Description
In 2011, the Chinese Government provided an RMB 14 million grant to the Government of Niger for the Tillabéri and Dosso Borehole Drilling Project. This project involved the drilling of 70 boreholes (water wells) in Tillabéri and Dosso provinces. On 2 December, 2011, China Geo-Engineering Corp. International Ltd. signed a contract with the Government of Niger’s Department of Water to implement this project. The Chinese Ambassador to Niger, Xia Huang, a CGE representative, and Issoufou Issaka, the Nigerien Water Minister signed the contract. The project was completed and handed over to the local authorities on 30 June, 2012. It reportedly benefited 20,000 residents of the Dosso and Tillabéri regions.
