Project narrative

In April 2008, the Chinese Government and the Government of Mozambique signed a grant agreement to establish a malaria control center in Maputo. This project involved the construction of laboratories and training rooms, the provision of equipment, and the dispatching of doctors to train staff. The center began operations on October 30, 2009, and it was officially handed over to the authorities on November 25, 2009. 4 malaria experts were dispatched on September 15, 2009 to Angola for 45 days and then to Mozambique for another 45 days to help with malaria control training. These expert visits are captured in Record ID#68603 and Record ID#68605, respectively.
