Description

The construction of 80 deep wells and installation of human water pumps and other facilities in the northern and northern regions of Cameroon is one of the projects under the 2009 framework agreement of the fourth China-Africa Cooperation Forum’s “New Eight Initiatives” for Africa. Then, in 2012, the Chinese Government signed a follow-up grant agreement providing a 800 XAF grant to be used in the construction of modern wells in the northern part of the country. The project includes a total of 80 water wells and related supporting facilities, which are mainly distributed in villages in the northern region of Kaji (45 wells) and the northern region (35 wells). The 80 wells aid project in Cameroon is a free aid project provided by the Chinese government to the Cameroonian government and was constructed by the Cameroon branch of Gansu Geological Engineering Co., Ltd. The project officially started on September 8, 2012, with a groundbreaking ceremony on September 19, 2012, and was it successfully completed and delivered on May 8, 2013.
