Description
In March 2013, during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Tanzania, both parties agreed to establish the Tanzania-Chinese Cultural Center (or 坦桑尼亚中国文化中心) in Dar es Salaam. The Chinese government likely financed this project with a grant but it is unclear how much. The Tanzania Chinese Cultural Center is the first cultural center established by the Chinese government in East Africa for the purposes of China-Tanzania cultural exchanges. The new center will be able to accommodate 100-120 students at a time. Discussions on how to implement the project began in April 2013, and the Tanzania Cultural Center was inaugurated on December 1, 2015 following a trial operation on September 29, 2015.
