Chinese Government provides RMB 55 million grant for Agricultural Research and Technology Demonstration Center Construction Project

Project narrative

In July 2012, the Government of Mali announced that it would receive an RMB 55 million grant from the Chinese Government for the Agricultural Research and Technology Demonstration Center Construction Project. On March 1, 2012, the Malian and Chinese governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Agricultural Research and Technology Demonstration Center Construction Project. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on July 15, 2012. The center was built on 20 hectares of land in the town of Baguineda within the Koulikoro region, 40 kilometers from the country's capital, Bamako. Its purpose was to develop sustainable agricultural methods, especially for hibiscus, vegetable, rice, and maize farming. The center also provided training. Jiangsu Redbud Dyeing Technology Co., Ltd. (江苏紫荆花纺织有限公司) was the contractor responsible for implementation. This project was completed in October 2018.
