Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On January 19, 2012, the Chinese government donated food commodities worth 8 million RMB to Lesotho to address food insecurity. The commodities included 738 metric tons of maize meal and 572 metric tons of corn soya blend. The donation was handed over to the Lesotho Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mohlabi Tsekoa, by the Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho, Hu Dingxian, at a ceremony held at the Food Management Unit in Maseru. China donated an additional batch of food aid to Lesotho in October 2012 (Record ID#30591). The other donation was distributed through the World Food Programme (WFP), but it is unclear whether this is also true for this January 2012 donation.
