Description
On June 15, 2012, Hanban signed an agreement with the Republic of Congo and University of Jinan in China to open a new Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University in Brazzaville. The Confucius Institute at Marien Ngouabi University has two classrooms, a library and a media library room. Its mission is to provide Chinese language courses, promote awareness of Chinese culture, and strengthen educational and cultural exchanges with China. On June 15, 2012, an unveiling ceremony was held by the Chinese Embassy. Then, the Institute began full operations on March 1, 2013 and it had 335 students at that time. The Institute is meant for teaching Chinese, training Chinese teachers, providing Chinese language teaching resources, conducting Chinese language examinations and Chinese language teacher qualification certification, providing information on Chinese education and culture, and conducting Chinese and foreign language and cultural exchange activities.
