Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On October 16, 2013, Angolan President Rose dos Santos met with Wang Jiong, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Director and General Manager of CITIC, to thank him and the CITIC group for contributing to the first phase of the Kilamba-Kiaxi Social Housing project. At the meeting, Wang Jiong thanked President dos Santos for the Angolan government's support of Chinese enterprises in Angola and promised to construct a professional training school in Angola by the end of 2013. The training center, commonly known as "BN Angola CITIC" but also as the CITIC Century (or Centennial) Angola Professional Training School (or "中信百年职业学校"), was inaugurated by Chinese Prime Minister Le Keqiang on May 8, 2014, during a two-day visit to the country. The school trains people 16-25 years of age below the poverty line in construction techniques. It offers one year's full time boarding school to 500 graduates. The CITIC training school is jointly funded by China and Angola.
