Description

In March 2013, the Chinese government agreed to grant funds and build phase I of the Zanzibar Water Supply Project (or 桑给巴尔第一期打井供水项目). The value of this project is unknown. China also financed phase II (project #60108). The purpose of this project was to help Zanzibar improve its water facilities and services. Phase I involved the construction of water wells, a new water plant, and four water supply stations in five areas (Chaani, Donge, Kisongoni, Kiboje, and Miwani) on Unguja Island. Beijing Construction Engineering Group was the contractor responsible for project implementation. Project construction began on June 18, 2016 and ended on January 3, 2019.
