On July 12, 2012, Kenya Electronic Project Monitoring Information System (eProMIS) reports there was a project agreement for the China-funded construction of the 220kV Garsen-Bura-Hola-Garissa Electricity Transmission Line Project. eProMIS records the total project cost as $56,212,800, while a media source identifies the project cost is estimated at KES 10.4 billion (approximately $100 million). It is also reported that China Eximbank is the funder. The transmission line is owned by Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO). The project is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2013, and be completed on June 30, 2016. The press briefing from Manoah Esipisu indicates that CAMCE was chosen as the contractor by 2015. Current status of the project is unconfirmed.
