Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) provides grant worth 1.5 billion CFA francs for the Confucius Institute Teaching Building Construction Project at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar

Project narrative

In 2009, a framework agreement to establish a Confucius Institute at University of Dakar in Senegal was signed. Then, on March 24, 2011, Liaoning University and Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar signed an implementation agreement for the establishment of a Confucius Institute at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD). The Confucius Institute was inaugurated on December 3, 2012. Then, in 2014, the Chinese Government and the Government of Senegal signed a grant agreement for the Confucius Institute Teaching Building Construction Project. The project involved the construction of classrooms, audio-visual rooms, a multifunctional complex, a library, and an exhibition room at the Confucius Institute at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar. The monetary value of this grant commitment is 1.5 billion CFA francs. A foundation laying ceremony took place in 2014. This project was officially completed and handed over occured on February 3, 2016. An official inauguration ceremony then took place on May 8, 2017 The Chinese project title is 塞内加尔达喀尔谢克.安达.迪奥普大学孔子学院教学楼项目. The French project title is Bâtiment de l'enseignement pour l'Institut Confucius de l'UCAD. The Confucius Institute at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar is located in Dakar.
