Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

A Chinese Confucius Center was founded in Cameroon in November 2007. The Chinese sponsors of the project are Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU) and the University of Yaounde II. The center was founded at the International Relationships Institute of Cameroon (Institut des Relations Internationales du Cameroun, IRIC). In 2007, the Chinese Language Training Center was upgraded to the Confucius Institute with 7 teaching centers. As of 2011, the Institute had 6,000 registered students. The Yaoundé CI is based on a cooperation initiated in 1996 between the IRIC and Zhejiang Normal University, located in Jinhua.
