Project narrative

On September 7, 2001, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Ning Fukui handed over 500 tube wells to Ly Thuch, Minster of the Rural Development, at the city of Kompong Speu, capital of Kompong Speu province. This is the second grant aid of China in rural water supply sector development in Cambodia; the first grant aid of 500 tube wells was already awarded in April 1999.The total 1,000 tube wells for drinking water can provide about 250,000 people in the rural areas with clean drinking water. In 2002, the Chinese Government granted RMB 16 million for Cambodia's Water Well Drilling Project (captured in Record ID#32040).
