Description

In August 2008, the Chinese embassy handed over admission notices to 54 Cambodian students who won the Chinese Government Scholarship for the academic year 2008-2009.The scholarship would cover the tuition fee, and include a stipend for accommodation and study material, and a living allowance. The students are recommended by different ministries and institutions, and they are awarded the scholarships after rounds of strict selections. All of them, including 21 bachelor's degree candidates, 29 master's degree candidates, two general scholars and two doctor's degree candidates, will register in their universities in early September, making the total number of Cambodian students staying in China in academic year 2008-2009 reach 80. The handover ceremony was held in the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). On the same occasion, the Chinese embassy also donated more than 1,000 books, magazines and CDs to the library of RUPP (See Project ID#32459).
