Project narrative

On December 22, 2011, the Chinese Government and the Government of Tanzania signed a $22 million grant agreement for the construction of a new office building for Tanzania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or 坦桑尼亚外交部办公楼项目) in Dar es Salaam. On May 27, 2014, Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Group Co. (AFECC) won the implementation contract worth 153,482,592.63 RMB to carry out this project. AFECC officially signed the contract on December, 15, 2015. The total land area of the project is 3,111 square meters with a floor area of 14,884 square meters. The project includes an office building, a generator house, and a guardhouse. The office building has six floors, 117 executive rooms, a multipurpose conference room, and a library. The project was originally scheduled to commence on September 30, 2014 and reach completion within 24 months (September 30, 2016). Construction actually began in 2016. On October 9, 2019, the handover ceremony for the MFA building was held.
