Project narrative

In November 2013, the Chinese Government announced that it would open a trade mission in São Tomé and Príncipe. This action came roughly four years before the Chinese Government and the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe resumed diplomatic relations (on December 26, 2017). Shortly after establishing a trade mission in São Tomé and Príncipe, the Chinese Government reportedly pledged to fund the construction of a hydroelectric dam and produce hydroelectric power from the River Yo, which runs through Sao Tome island in Sao Tome in 2013. This pledge is also linked to Record ID#33650, #33648, #30727, #33647, #33655.
