On 15 November 2007, cyclone Sidr produced widespread flooding and damage in Bangladesh. In response, on 19 November 2007, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh met with a Bangladeshi foreign advisor and pledged $1 million USD for emergency disaster relief efforts.
