Project narrative
In 2009, the Chinese Government provided a $439,174 grant to the Government of Madagascar for the Malaria Prevention and Treatment Center Construction Project. The project involved the establishment of a Sino-Malagasy Center for Prevention and Fight Against Malaria (Centre Sino-Malagache de Prevention et De Lutte Contre Le Paludisme) at Befelatanana General Hospital in Antananarivo. The project officially commenced on the January 10, 2009. The center became operational on October 6, 2009.

The French project title is Centre Sino-Malagache de Prevention et De Lutte Contre Le Paludisme or Centre de Prévention et de Lutte Contre Le Paludisme or Projet de Centre anti-paludique à Befelatanana or Centre de lutte contre le paludisme. The Chinese project title is 我援马达加斯加疟疾防治中心项目 or 马达加斯加疟疾防治中心项目. In May 2018, the Aid Coordination Permanent Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister in Madagascar extracted information on the Chinese Government-financed projects in its Aid Management Platform (AMP) and provided it to AidData. The data extraction identifies a grant from the Chinese Government for the Projet de Centre anti-paludique à Befelatanana.
