Description

On 16 October 2006, the Governments of China and Angola signed a protocol agreement for China to sends its first medical team to Angola (See: '中国将向安哥拉派遣医疗队'). However, the team did not arrive until 2009 due to inadequate housing for the doctors (See: 'China-Angola aid relations: strategic cooperation for development?' p. 6). The team completed its term of service between 23 June 2009 and 25 October 2011 (See: '中国第二批援安哥拉医疗队简介'). The team was stationed at Luanda General Hospital (Hospital Geral de Luanda) in the Kilamba Kiaxi municipality of Luanda and was comprised of 18 doctors who specialized in fields such as urology, acupuncture and cardiology as well as 1 translator and 1 chef. Since 2009, Sichuan Province has been sending medical teams to Angola every 2 years.
