Description

In October 2007, Chinese President Hu agreed to grant Costa Rica $20 million USD. The purpose of the aid is to assist several hundred citizens in Costa Rica suffering from severe flooding that occurred three weeks prior. The donation was one of eleven cooperation agreements signed by representatives Oscar Arias and Hu Jintao to support Costa Rican infrastructure. Promised funds were transferred in December 2007 and used by Costa Rica's National Emergency Commission for housing and rebuilding bridges and roads damaged by the rains.
