Description
In 1978, Jiangxi Province sent the first Chinese medical team to Chad. Chinese medical teams suspended their activities in Chad between 1979 and 1989, resumed their activities between 1989 and 1997, suspended their activities between 1997 and 2006, and resumed their activities from 2006 onward. On December 23, 2010, the Chinese Government and the Government of Chad signed an agreement, dispatching the 9th medical team from Jiangxi Province to Chad (第九批援乍得医疗队). The agreement was signed by Yang Guangyu, the ambassador to Chad, and Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moussa Faki. The team consisted of 11 people. It was stationed at China-Chad Friendship Hospital (known locally as L’hôpital de la liberté or L'hôpital de l'amitié Tchad-Chine) in the capital city of N'Djamena. The team completed its term of service between June 2011 and June 17, 2013. It completed 22,695 outpatient visits, diagnosed and treated 2179 inpatients, 1,374 surgeries, 209 critically ill patients, 6695 acupuncture and moxibustion treatments, 1488 anesthesia, 6286 X-ray examinations, and 6,851 ultrasound examinations.
