Description
On December 27, 2002, a Chinese government official signed a protocol sending the 20th Chinese medical team to Zanzibar. The 21-member medical group worked alongside Zanzibar medical staff at Zanzibar Naz Moga Hospital and Pemba Abdullah Mucai Hospital to carry out medical work, provide technical guidance, and exchange medical experience. Their mission began on July 19, 2003 and ended in June 2005. Under the agreement, Zanzibar was responsible for covering the housing, transportation, and living expenses of the medical team, in addition to all drugs and equipment they require. China was responsible for providing some equipment and transportation to Zanzibar. Jiangsu Province was responsible for selecting and preparing the team. China has been sending medical teams to Zanzibar every two years since 1964.
