Description
On June 13, 2003, a Chinese government official signed a protocol sending the 18th Medical Team to Tanzania. The 25-person medical team includes team leaders and an interpreter, among others. The team will work in four hospitals: Mhibili National Hospital, Dodoma, Msoma and Tabora Provincial Hospital. The medical team will assist Tanzanian medical staff with medical tasks, provide specialized training, and exchange medical experience. Their mission began in August 2003 and ended on August 15, 2005. Under the agreement, Tanzania is responsible for providing the medical team with living expenses, while China and Tanzania share joint responsibility for providing salaries, transportation, and medical expenses. Shandong Province was responsible for selecting and preparing the team members. China has been sending medical teams to Tanzania every two years since 1968.
