Description

On January 22, 2014, the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) signed agreements for the design and construction of three road projects. Under one of the agreements, an 89km Gashena-Lalibela road in Lalibela area of Amhara State will be undertaken with an outlay of approximately 1.4 billion birrs. China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd. (CRTG) is the contractor. The project was funded by China Eximbank. It entered the construction phase on February 12, 2014. On September 18, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia went to the GLS highway project to carry out risk investigation.
