Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 1997, the Chinese Government signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement (ETCA) granting an unknown amount of funds to the Government of Suriname (see Umbrella Record ID#36703). In 2001, an unspecified portion of this grant was allocated towards building a cold storage facility at Suriname's Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport. The cost of the refrigeration panels is unknown. Works began in September 2002 and the facility was officially handed over on January 6, 2004.
