Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 12, 2014, Hanban inaugurated the Latin America Regional Center for Confucius Institutes (Centro Regional de los Institutos Confucio para América Latina, or CRICAL) in Santiago, Chile. This center will also house the Confucius Institute for the Santo Tomás University. This regional center will coordinate the activities of the Confucius Institutes of Latin America. CRICAL was created by Hanban, Central Office of Chinese Language, a unit under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, in May 2014. The aim of the Center is to provide educational services for the Chinese language and culture. For the implementation of CRICAL, Hanban signed an agreement with the Universidad Santo Tomás de Chile, which provided a 1300 m2 building in the center of the city of Santiago for the operation of this center.
