Description

On February 20, 2001, People's Liberation Army of China pledged to provide aid with better facilities to PNG Defense Force. All necessary documents for the plans would be made official in China in May, 2001. Chinese Ambassador Zhao Zhenyu said the PLA had agreed to provide assistance in three categories. These were the supply of 57 items of medical equipment in nine categories to Taurama hospital; the building of 1,500 sq.m. of housing for the hospital; and the undertaking of training for medical staff, new millennium gifts presented to PNG by China. Defense authorities have been invited to visit an army base in China later 2001.
