Project narrative

On September 6, 2001, the Chinese Government and the Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) signed agreements under which China would donate wind and solar generators to PNG. On June 5, 2002, the Chinese ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Zhao Zhenyu, handed over 50 sets of wind and solar generators to the Government of PNG. Chinese experts headed by Suntime International Techno-economic co-operation were also in the country to provide technical guidance for the installation and maintenance of the generators. The value of this project was RMB 1.96 million, an equivalent of PGK 830,000.
