Project narrative

In April 2002, the Chinese government agreed to send a medical mission to Papua New Guinea. The medical team of 8 doctors, an administrative assistant, and a chef arrived in Papua New Guinea in November 2002. The doctors, specializing in a variety of fields from gynecology to dentistry, worked at Port Moresby General Hospital for two years, departing in November 2004. During their time in PNG, the medical team granted $36,000 USD of medical supplies to the Port Moresby hospital (captured in #63795). This was China’s 1st Medical Mission to PNG, it was followed by the 2nd Medical Mission in 2004 (#37785), the 3rd Medical Mission in 2006 (#39292), the 4th Medical Mission in 2008 (#39291), the 5th Medical Mission in 2010 (#63847), the 6th Medical Mission in 2013 (#63848), the 7th Medical Mission in 2014 (#63849), the 8th Medical Mission in 2017 (#63850), the 9th Medical Mission in 2018 (#63851), and the 10th Medical Mission in 2019 (#63852).
