Project narrative

In August, 2009 China's ambassador to Tonga handed over a grant of $100,000 USD for the Ashika Relief Fund. This fund was established by the Tongan government to help families affected by the sinking of the MV Princess Ashika Ferry. In addition to this donation, the Red Cross Society of China donated $30,000 USD to the cause (see Record ID#37716).
