Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In February 2005, the Chinese government granted $1 million USD to Fiji, praising Suva for sticking to its one-China policy of recognizing Beijing over Taipei. The announcement came during a visit to Fiji by a high-powered Chinese delegation. The grant will help with repairs to the Chinese-funded gymnasium, aquatic and hockey centers that were built for the 2003 South Pacific Games in Fiji. The handover ceremony for the maintenance project occurred on January 12, 2024, with over 200 attendees.
