Project narrative

In 2011, it was reported that 14 students from Otago Polytechnic won scholarships to study at the Shanghai University of Engineering Science. This project was funded by the Shanghai Education Commission. Mike Waddell, communications and customer relations manager at Otago Polytechnic, estimated the scholarships to be worth $8,000 to $10,000 NZD each.

Staff comments

1. To estimate the value of the scholarships, AidData has taken the midpoint of the range ($9,000 NZD, between $8,000 NZD and $10,000 NZD) and multiplied it by 14 to get $126,000 NZD. 2. There were applications apparently under this scholarship in 2015.
