Project narrative

In 2006, the Chinese Government provides a $1.3 million (11 million RMB according to the Pakistan Ministry of Economic Affairs' Status Report 2008-09) grant to the Government of Pakistan for the upgrading of machinery at the Cutlery and Small Tools Industry Centre in Wazirabad. The agreement was signed by Mohsin Syed, the Chairman of Tevta, and Zhou Zhencheng, the Economic & Commercial Counsellor of China. First Secretary of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan Yan Jianming, Zonal Manager (North) Group Captain Muhammad Rashid (Retd), Manager Service Centres Akhtar Abbas Bharwana and Manager Public Relations Mustafa Kamal Pasha were also present. The respective parties also came to an agreement for the financing of a Light Engineering Service Center (see Record ID#35837). Construction began on July 1, 2007 and ended on June 30, 2009.
