Project narrative

On February 4, 2015, China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) launched village public welfare projects in cooperation with the Myanmar Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development. The poverty-alleviation projects were implemented in 50 villages in the town of Kyaukphyu (within Rakhine State) and they were aimed at helping the villagers boost production and improve their livelihoods. The public welfare projects were implemented under a November 2014 memorandum of understanding between CITIC and the Myanmar Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development, in which CITIC agreed to provide 1.5 billion kyats of grant funding. CITIC's donation for the project also included the donation of three working vehicles. Other activities by CITIC aimed to aid rural development in Myanmar include the construction of primary schools (recorded in Record ID#39236 ) and "Love clinics" (recorded in Record ID#39237).
