Project narrative

On January 14, 2012, China announced a one-time grant of US$20 million (over Rs 1.65 billion) to the government of Nepal to support the peace process, in particular this grant is a budgetary support which will be used for financing rehabilitation of former Maoist combatants. This was announced when Prime Minister Wen Jiabao of China paid a short visit to Nepal (lasting four and a half hours), stopping over on his way to the Persian Gulf. According to the Nepal government, the agreement was signed in 2012 but not implemented yet as of 2018.
