Full Description

Project narrative

On 2 May 2008, Cycone Nargis hit Myanmar leaving thousands missing and towns destroyed. In response, on May 24, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao announced a $10 million USD donation to the Government Myanmar for disaster relief efforts (see Umbrella #34291). Of this amount, 56 million RMB (about $8.2 million USD) was used to purchase 40 excavators and 18 bulldozers for reconstruction in Yangon. This equipment was delivered on 16 March 2009.
